DR. ZORMAN ON BREAST RECONSTRUCTION

After more than fifteen years experience in breast reconstruction, I have decided to publish this website not to promote breast reconstruction but to offer honest and concise information to breast cancer patients to ease their decision about reconstruction.

My goal in breast reconstruction is not to merely recreate the breast, but to optimise the appearance of both breasts for the finest aesthetic result possible. Regardless of the reconstructive method, I aim to create natural, beautiful and symmetrical breasts while taking into consideration the goals and concerns of each patient.

I firmly believe that except in specific situations breast reconstruction with body's own tissue brings superior results compared to implant-based reconstruction, therefore my efforts are focused on improving techniques for autologous breast reconstruction, to make these procedures more reliable, shorter and less stressful to the patient, while minimising the problems at donor sites.

Every surgeon's principles of breast reconstruction are based on his knowledge and experience. There is rarely only one correct or possible way of recreating a new breast. An optimal result mostly depends on a proper indication, detailed planning, and meticulous execution. However, some factors that influence the healing process and the final result depend on individual’s biologic characteristics and cannot always be predicted or guaranteed. However, I can promise to do my best to fulfil your expectations.

Dr. Zorman's practice of breast surgery is focused on natural tissue reconstruction with an advanced microsurgical technique known as perforator flap. One of his specialties are corrections of breast reconstruction results from previous operations. In the last decade, he has performed over 200 autologous breast reconstructions. As a Consultant of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Dr. Zorman is a part of the largest multidisciplinary breast cancer team in the region. Vast experience in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery enables him to choose from all implant and flap-based reconstructive options to ensure the best possible result for the individual patient. Dr. Zorman balances expertise with compassion and personal attention.
